Cover Reveal: Touch Me Not by Apryl Baker @AprylBaker

TOUCH ME NOT, a New Adult Romance by USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR, Apryl Baker, releases this September through Limitless Publishing!

 ✰ ✰ SYNOPSIS ✰
A past tragedy has left Lily James burdened with a devastating secret…

Since the death of her twin sister, Lily can’t bear to be touched. Not accidentally, not casually…and certainly not intimately. This makes it impossible for her to confess to her best friend Adam Roberts that she’s in love with him. She can’t give him the sort of relationship he needs, so she watches in silence while he plans his wedding with someone else.

Enter Nikoli Kinkaid, the campus manwhore…

Nikoli is a self-proclaimed connoisseur of women, and he wants to add Lily to his list of conquests, but she wants nothing to do with him—until he makes her an offer she can’t refuse. He’ll teach her to enjoy human contact again, giving her a chance to win over Adam, while Nikoli uses all his considerable charm to seduce her.

But Lily raises the stakes…

Lily loves cars. Her late father was a racer, and she grew up under the hood of a car and on the racetrack. Nikoli has a limited edition 1970 Plymouth Barracuda she covets, so she informs him the terms of their deal also require he not sleep with anyone for six months. If he does, she’ll win the car. If she surrenders and ends up in his bed, his beloved ’Cuda is his to keep.

In an intricate dance of control and surrender, a reluctant friendship becomes something more. Lily begins to crave things she never believed she could, and Nikoli realizes there is more at stake than his reputation.

If Lily overcomes her phobia, will she crave Adam’s touch as she’s starting to crave Nikoli’s?
Or will she only find pleasure from the touch of a semi-reformed manwhore?

So who am I? Well, I’m the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tell me to stop watching them, but who doesn’t love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.

Growing up in a small town, I learned a lot of values and morals, I also learned parents have spies everywhere and there’s always someone to tell your mama you were seen kissing a particular boy on a particular day just a little too long. So when you get grounded, what is there left to do? Read! My Aunt Jo gave me my first real romance novel. It was a romance titled “Lord Margrave’s Deception.” I remember it fondly. But I also learned I had a deep and abiding love of mysteries and anything paranormal. As I grew up, I started to write just that and would entertain my friends with stories featuring them as main characters.

Now, I live Huntersville, NC where I entertain my niece and nephew and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach. The cats start yelling something fierce…lol.

I love books, I love writing books, and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.

Cover Reveal: The Oath by Apryl Baker

The Oath

Book 2 of The Coven Series
By Apryl

Baker Release Date: 10/07/2014

Summary from Goodreads:

She killed herself. Everyone asked why, but when I got my hands on my sister's diary, I understood exactly why. I stared at the girl in the mirror as I removed my nose ring. Gone was the black hair, replaced by golden blonde locks that made my sapphire blue eyes shine and my California sun-kissed skin glow. The Goth chic clothes had been put away and I wore a pink tank top and a pair of khaki colored Capri’s. Stylish sandals completed the outfit. I wanted to barf. The snotty little would-be witches would pay for what they'd done. By the end of the week, they’d all be praying to whatever god they worshiped to hide them from the hell coming for them. May the Fates have mercy upon them, because they would pay the same price they’d demanded of her. Their lives.

Review: The Ghost Files Volume 3

Mattie Hathaway has survived more than her fair share of scary, bizarre incidences. Safety seems like an illusion, even with Dan and Eli there to protect her. After returning from a trip to help Dr. Ollivet de-ghost a house in the south, Mattie is reeling from everything she learned about herself, Eli's family, and Dan's true past. Coming home to a horde of angry spirits who all blame Mattie for their deaths and are hell-bent on revenge really wasn't the homecoming she hoped for.

Having read volumes one and two of The Ghost Files series, I was eager to get my hands on this one. The turmoil Mattie was left in at the end of book two made it impossible to resist. I've come to expect deep characters and captivating storylines from Apryl, and I wasn't disappointed in this volume.

While the series as a whole has an overarching story, each volume focuses on a plot specific to that book as well. The mystery of who the drowned girls are and why they want to see Mattie pay for their deaths was well crafted. Readers are kept guessing throughout the book as to who or what is responsible for the girls' deaths, and I was surprised when the truth was revealed, which I loved.

In addition to the main storyline, readers also get more information on Mattie's past. They don't get the whole story, of course. Baker had to hold something back for the rest of the series! Readers do learn quite a bit, though, including who Mattie's father is. That brings up a whole host of problems, as the truth is hardly a warm and fuzzy reunion. Figuring out who to trust has never been easy, but when major players make promises and reveal true intentions, Mattie is left to struggle on her own.

One of the best aspects of this book was the emotion packed into every chapter. It's not often that a book gets to me so much that it makes me cry, but watching Mattie and Dan as they are faced with a heart wrenching decision truly hit me hard. It's going to be difficult for readers not to get completely sucked into their story, and when you have the added bonus of the ever-sexy Eli, putting this down will prove completely impossible. I can't recommend this series enough.

Review: The Ghost Files Vol. 2 (Apryl Baker)

The trauma Mattie Hathaway suffered at the hands of her former foster mother is only the latest in a series of horrible events she's had to survive, but it left scars deeper than her what her damaged hands show. Mattie deserves a break, but fate is not so kind. As her personal relationships fall apart around her, she has to escape, but her escape only drags her further into confusion and danger.

I am a big fan of all of Apryl Baker's books, and I loved the first book in this series, so I was eager to get my hands on volume 2. When I was offered a review copy from the author in exchange for an honest review, I was delighted! The biggest question when starting a sequel is always whether or not it will live up to the first book. The Ghost Files Vol. 2 more than lived up to my expectations!

While this second book wasn't quite as graphic as book one, it was still plenty scary. I had a hard time going to bed after finishing the book! Of course, that might have also had something to do with the fact that I started reading it at ten o'clock at night and read it well into the morning hours until I got to the end. I literally couldn't stop reading, and that doesn't happen to me very often anymore.

The mystery that flows through this book was captivating, to say the least. There were many questions left unanswered at the end of book one about Mattie's past, and well as Dan's. Readers are in for a windfall of answers in this one as Mattie and a few new friends fight off some pretty scary beings intent of stealing their souls. That hardly means more questions won't follow, though! I loved learning about Mattie and Dan's pasts and how it will change their future plans. Baker certainly caught me off guard on more than one account!

As far as the main storyline, I loved watching them confront their enemies and meeting the new characters like Eli and his family. I won't be forgetting them an time soon, especially Eli. Each new character followed up on the usual depth and complexity I've come to expect from Baker. Their interactions had me laughing at times, and tearing up at others. Readers will find it hard not to become emotionally invested in them. I'm looking forward to hearing more from them as Mattie and Eli's family continue hunting down scary creatures. If they're anything like the one they face in this volume, I'll be sure to start reading in daylight and plan on not moving for several hours!

I'm not usually a horror reader, but I have loved both the Ghost Files books. I have every intention of continuing to read the series. As far as content, when it comes to romance and language, the story is prett clean. It can get pretty scary, though, so it's not for younger readers. Even though this is labelled as YA, I'd recommend it to older teens and adults who enjoy strong characters, a great mystery, a good scare.
